The refurbishment of Motor Insurers’ Bureau’s (MIB) head office Linford Wood House marks the return of staff after Covid and a transformation of the business, building a digital workforce that delivers world-class claims, data and fraud solutions.
With staff returning to the office after working from home, MIB wanted to create an inspiring, welcoming environment that doesn’t negatively impact on the needs of their operational and customer-facing areas. Alongside a new, leaner hybrid office/home way of working, which no longer requires lots of rows of desks, it was essential to encourage cross-functional collaboration and create places where people can do focused work as well as areas to unwind. Fundamentally the office needed to be a place that makes everyone feel proud to work there, embodying MIB’s brand purpose and exciting future as a leading data organisation.
We were briefed to design and produce inspiring graphical spaces over 3 floors; to collaborate in formal and casual meeting environments, a hot desking area, smaller meeting and quiet working rooms, as well as themed wellbeing rooms, designated as places to unwind. MIB staff voted for their favourite relaxing environments for the wellbeing rooms, which they chose to be a forest/woodland hideaway and a beach retreat featuring sand.
Our Studio One team initially surveyed Linford Wood House and, working with MIB’s Marcomms and HR teams, we planned, designed, produced and installed the entire project, with our seamless end-to-end project management throughout. In total, the refurbished interior and exterior spaces at Linford Wood House consisted of large wall coverings and smaller wall graphics, printed on white matt textured PVC 250 µm ww canvas, wayfinding signage, window manifestation, digital wall signage with messaging showcasing the MIB brand purpose, strategy promises and customer quotes, as well as exterior signage at the main entrance and in the car parks.
Bringing staff back to the office after such a long period of remote working can be a challenging situation for businesses. MIB wanted to transform the appearance and layout of their dated head office building to be far more welcoming and relaxing, creating collaborative spaces to embrace team-working, focusing on the wellbeing of their colleagues and delivering world-class service to customers. The newly refurbished, modern work space at Linford Wood House successfully immerses MIB’s long history, social impact and transformation into a vital data company.
